Rob Crosse and Peles Duo
opening 12/04/25 from 7pm
12/04 - 22/06/25
The exhibition h₁ésh₂r̥ explores hybrid spaces and the themes of transformation and transience. The title refers to the Proto-Indo-European word for ‘blood’, which symbolises life and sacrificial offerings as well as the connection between body, earth and metal - central motifs that run through mythology, materiality and the artistic practice of peles duo. Ashes within me, a collaborative film by the artist Rob Crosse and Peles Duo will also be presented for the first time. At the historic excavation site of Gerhardsseifen, an Iron Age smelting site in the Siegerland region, the artists will bury a sculpture, an inverted sculpture that is hidden from view. This gesture questions the traditional idea of sculpture as a visible monument and addresses themes revolving around time, memory and archaeology. This process will also be filmed by Rob Crosse, and subsequently presented as part of the exhibition from the 7th to the 22nd of June.
