Oliver Tessmann: Material-Digital

Vortrag23. Januar 2020, 19:00Aula, Städelschule, Dürerstraße 10, 60596 Frankfurt am Main

Oliver Tessmann will present and discuss the research of the Digital Design Unit (DDU) from the TU Darmstadt. The group explores novel digital strategies of designing and materialising architecture. DDU uses global networks for crowdsourcing design, digital fabrication and robotics for innovative and resource-efficient concrete element production and develops software to design for re-assembly. The research seeks to address our global challenges of scarce resources and co-creates the ongoing digitalisation of our lives in a responsible way.

Oliver Tessmann is an architect and Professor of Digital Design at the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Darmstadt and supervises research projects at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. He researches and teaches in the field of computer-based design and digital fabrication. He worked for Coop Himmelblau and headed the performativeBuildingGroup at the engineering office Bollinger + Grohmann Frankfurt, which develops new collaborative, computer-based working methods at the interface between structural design and architecture and tests them in practice. From 2010 to 2012 Oliver Tessmann was a visiting professor at the Städelschule Architecture Class and led the specialisation Architecture and Performative Design (APD).

Der Vortrag findet in englischer Sprache statt.
