Tom Burr: Some Thoughts on some Work from the recent Past, including some Speculations on some Work for the near Future
Tom Burr will discuss a small group of his projects including Body/Building (2017), Hélio-centricities (2019), and the yet to be exhibited, Conversions.
Tom Burr works with spatial, sculptural, and collage-based forms; with found objects, photography, and writing. Emerging out of legacies of minimalism, conceptualism, feminist art practice, and institutional critique, his work has reflected this history alongside his own biographical coordinates to consider ideas of site and subjectivity, desire, states of control, and shifting queer conditions. Solo exhibitions have been presented at Secession, Vienna; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Gegenwartskunst Museum, Basel; Savannah College of Art and Design Museum, Savannah; FRAC Champagne-Ardenne, Reims, among others. Tom Burr’s work has been included in Skulptur Projekte, Münster; Istanbul Biennial; and the Whitney Biennial, among other international survey exhibitions. His book Anthology: Writings 1991–2015 was published by Sternberg press in 2015.
Der Vortrag findet in englischer Sprache statt.
