Thuy Tien Nguyễn, a Frankfurt-based artist originally from Hanoi, utilizes sound, sculpture, installation, and situational art to explore the fragility of memory and the coexistence of seemingly contradictory elements. Her bitter yet playful approach evokes nostalgia, longing, disorientation, and accident, leaving viewers in an unnavigated and hazy state. In her first solo exhibition in Germany, “ Mùa Đông Ngay Thẳng,“ (Upright winter), Thuy Tien examines belonging, insecurities, balance, and lost memories through intricate technical drawings, echoing sound installation, and oddly cut-throat vulnerable sculptures. By challenging conventional notions of support, normalcy, and balance, she prompts viewers to reflect on their experiences and emotions. The immersive installation creates a soft yet tension-filled atmosphere that both allures and unsettles, inviting viewers to explore the complexities of human connection and introspection.
