The Sculpture Parks

24/05/2024

Kumasi, Ghana (Kwamo)

The Sculpture Parks is an initiative by artists Sopo Kashakashvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) & Larry Bonćhaka (Ghana).

The  journey starts in the enchanted garden in Kwamo. Where the garden is a living artwork itself.

When speaking about sculptures and parks people usually have very straightforward idea of what that can be. In this case, we want to welcome various ideas of what  a work of art can be, do, transform or re-generate.

The idea started from thinking about history of playgrounds, poetry and works in public spaces. The contributions from artist/friends,Godelive Kasangati (Congo), Dramane Diarra (Mali), Nuna Adisenu (Doe, Ghana) the works range from site specific installations, interventions, sound installations, luminous images and paintings.

Project Kwamo is an ongoing community based project initiated by Caterina Niklaus Sippah and Stephen Sippah/ uncle Smart on a land crafted by art and horticulture. Each plant, hedge, herb, bird, has healing and nourishing properties.

This mystical garden inhabits musical, spiritual, architectural and re-generative elements that visitors are encouraged to embody.

The program is as follows:

Doors open : 3pm
Tour starts: 4pm
Live music: 6pm

Join us on an ongoing initiative that aims to bring contemporary art in dialogue with Horticulture and various cuisines.

Big thank you to KfW Stiftung (Frankfurt Moves!) & BlaxTARLINES for the support.
