Forests are home to biodiversity, places of longing and of social-economic negotiations. They are objects of art and natural science. The transdisciplinary exhibition focuses on forest concepts and conditions from the 19th to the 21st century and beyond. The joint exhibition by Senckenberg Naturmuseum, Deutsches Romantik-Museum in Frankfurt and Museum Sinclair-Haus in Bad Homburg is being held at three locations in parallel. At Senckenberg Naturmuseum, scientific findings from Senckenberg research will enter into dialogue with other historical and contemporary interpretations of forests. Four extraordinary art projects by Joseph Beuys, Ursula Biemann, Ioannis Mandafounis and the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company as well as Jakob Kudsk Steensen expand the insights into the world's forests.
You can find the dates for the accompanying program in our calendar or on the exhibition homepage.
The project is generously supported by German Federal Cultural Foundation, Crespo Foundation, Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, Polytechnic Foundation of Frankfurt am Main and other sponsors.
