Zaratan wants to sculpt spaces, not occupy them. It brings water and its fluidity into everyday life and interacts with light to recreate liquid reflections in the surrounding space.

Zaratan is a monster of the abyss, an immense sea creature that, when it surfaces, is mistaken by sailors for land. Their superficial error will prove fatal to them, for they will be drawn back into the abyss as the animal submerges, independent in time and scale of its tiny inhabitants.

Water has always been present in the architecture of spaces, both for practical reasons and as a decorative element. The abstraction and synthesis of water in the bas-reliefs of Modena Cathedral are the initial inspiration for this work. The modular system was developed in collaboration with the architecture department of Pininfarina.
