Following from a recent publication titled The Embarrassment of SUCKCESS with the Witte de With – Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam, Melissa Gordon’s lecture will outline her research on the behaviour of gesture in painting, and use the site and the container of these gestures as a place to consider how we evaluate (known and unknown) quantities, authorships, and movement, in regard to her own work and practices of others that have gone “off grid."
Melissa Gordon is a British and American painter based in Brussels. Recent exhibitions include Shits and Giggles at Deweer Gallery, Belgium (2019) and The Mechanics of Fluids at Marianne Boesky Gallery, NY (2018).
