Water Cooler Talks 2024
Every year, the Rundgang of the Staedelschule is complemented by the Water Cooler Talks by Curatorial Studies students. This year, the talk format will be replaced by workshops in order to create even more of a space for collective exchange and encounters. The program includes artistic interventions by Städelschule students—Hendrik Arns (performance), Koon Kwon (meditation and drawing workshop), Ming Yuan (soundperformance) and Augustin Paredes (reading). Additionally, the artist Sunny Pfalzer will give a workshop delving into collaborative work, movement, and friendship. All visitors are warmly invited to participate in the artistic practices, to engage in conversation or to use the space in Daimlerstraße as a place of peace and contemplation during the "turmoil" of the Rundgang.
Water Cooler Talks

Daimlerstraße 32, Städelschule
Room behind the cafeteria
PROGRAMME:
Samstag, 10. Februar, offen von 10:00 bis 18:00 Uhr
11:00 – 12:30 Koon Kwon My Inside Light Pattern, Drawing Workshop
In the My Inside Light Pattern workshop, the artist Koon Kwon will lead a sunlight meditation. Based on visual and physical sensations, we will then paint our own light patterns in individual meditations.
13:15 – 13:30 Augustine Paredes Dancing in a godless land, Reading
Dancing in a godless land is a reading of poems written by Augustine Paredes as a response to the war on drugs in the Philippines, which heightened in 2016 but the aftermath is still felt up to this day.
14:00 – 14:30 Hendrik Arns fall4me, Performance
fall4me is a discursive exploration within the (post-)queer debate focusing on healing and renarration. The performance examines the act of falling (or letting go) as a gesture of hope and bravery, exploring the segmentation of language, meaning, and content.
15:00 – 15:30 Ming Yuan, Dripsody, Sound Performance
In her first public sound live performance: Dripsody, Ming Yuan intertwines the ethos of Minimalist, puritan Christians and Buddhist spirituality. Using the form of Chinese tea ceremony, live recording and digital sound, she discloses a sonic and visual journey of tea.
16:00 – 18:00 Sunny Pfalzer Send me a text, Collective reading, feeling, listening session
Send me a text is a collective reading, feeling, and listening session and a place to dwell. Everyone is invited invited to send in their poems, love letters, manifestos and thoughts. Sunny proposes a collective reading practice of the text collection, connecting bodies through words, sounds and an activation of the senses. Please send us your text submissions and questions to curatorial_studies@gmx.de. The format was developed together with Lena Neuburger.
