Henrik Olesen is an artist based in Berlin. He works with sculpture, installation and painting and uses information in the form of text, images and other materials at hand to address relations of power and social norms. His artworks often contain a variety of references to gay subculture and homosexual history. He has worked in a variety of artist collaborations and is an editor of the artist run magazine Starship.
Solo exhibitions include Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía; Madrid; Schinkel Pavillon; Berlin; CCA Wattis Institute, San Francisco; Wolfgang Hahn Preis; Museum Ludwig, Cologne; Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Basel and Portikus, Frankfurt am Main. He has participated in group shows such as Biennial Venice and Biennial de São Paulo and his work has been shown at institutions like New Museum, New York; Palais de Tokyo, Paris and KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin.
