7–9 February 2025, 10:00–20:00, Dürerstraße 10, 60596 & Daimlerstraße 32, 60314 Frankfurt am Main

Every year at the end of the winter semester, the Städelschule opens its doors for the ‘Rundgang’ – an extensive program of open studios, talks, performances and film screenings. The next Rundgang will take place from Friday, February 7 to Sunday, February 9, 2025 (10:00–20:00) at both locations of the Städelschule. A free shuttle service runs regularly from 11:00 to 18:00 between Dürerstaße 10 and Daimlerstaße 32. Admission is free.

Over the course of three days, visitors can gain an insight into the artistic practice of students from all eight classes of the art professors Monika Baer, Gerard Byrne, Benjamin Foerster-Baldenius, Judith Hopf, Hassan Khan, Tobias Rehberger, Willem de Rooij and Haegue Yang. The students open their studios and present their current work at both Städelschule locations. In cooperation with the DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum, film and video works by the students will also be shown in the museum’s movie theatre.

In addition, Rundgang offers a rich program of performances, readings, concerts and talks. Students of the Curatorial Studies – Theory – History – Criticism course, a study program in cooperation with the Goethe University Frankfurt, invite artists, curators and other art professionals to discuss current topics of contemporary art. Curatorial Studies students also offer public guided tours of the Städelschule’s two locations. Current publications and editions by the Städelschule, Portikus and students are available for purchase in the library.

Portikus, an institution and exhibition space for contemporary art associated with the Städelschule, will be open and show its current exhibition Adrian Piper. Who, Me? (23.11.2024–09.02.2025).

In memory of Kasper König, former rector of the Städelschule and founder of Portikus, who passed away in August 2024, the Städelschule is hosting an event on Friday, February 7, 2025 (19:00) in the so-called Filmküche (Dürerstraße 10). Together with his friends and companions, we will commemorate König’s major commitment to the Städelschule, Portikus and the international art scene.

Every year the Städelschule Portikus e.V., together with his long-standing supporters, awards a series of art prizes to students of the Städelschule. The funding goes directly to the prize winners and honors the work they present on the occasion of the Rundgang. The jury consists of Anna Roberta Goetz (co-curator 36th São Paulo Biennial), Dr. Mahret Kupka (curator, MAK Frankfurt, and guest professor at the Städelschule), Prof. Willem de Rooij (artist and professor at the Städelschule) and Dr. Claudia Orben-Mäckler (art historian and chair of Städelschule Portikus e.V.). The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025 (19:00) at Dürerstraße 10.

A detailed program will be published in mid-January.

The Rundgang 2025 is made possible by the generous support of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture as well as Städelschule Portikus e.V. Further support comes from the prize donors Antje and Jürgen Conzelmann, Hiltner-Wolf-Stiftung, Künstlerhilfe Frankfurt e.V., Linklaters LLP, R&S Invest GmbH and WV Energie AG.
