Monika Baer (*1964) studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1985-1992. She lives and works in Berlin and the Schwarzwald. Recent solo exhibitions include The Inside Out at Galerie Barbara Weiss, Berlin (2023) and Am Rhein at Kunsthalle Bern (2021). Baer has been a Professor in the MFA program at Bard College from 2010-2018 and was Regents‘ Lecturer at UCLA in Los Angeles in 2018-2019, where she taught in the Painting Department until 2020. Monika Baer is Professor of Fine Art and Painting at the Städelschule since 2020.

The edition consists of works created exclusively for the Städelschule Portikus e.V., the proceeds of which exclusively benefit the student. Parallel to the Professor Edition, a Student Edition is published. The Professors select the young artist from among the students in their class. This year‘s student editions were created by Chaeheun Park und Deshaun Price.
