Timothy Furey (*1981 in Cork/IE) studied at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2004, graduating with a National Diploma of Art and Design. He studied painting under Professor Michael Krebber at the Städelschule from 2008 to 2012.
The work is from a series Fake Silk Prints that deals with the question of authenticity in how a work is authored and reproduced vis-à-vis its exchange value ... The image is comprised of three torn pieces of fabric, residue from three short durational performances (Little Deaths) involving the artist’s own body that took place earlier this year.
