The festival is dedicated to international documentary work in all its variations as well as regional film production. Current documentary and artistic experimental short and feature films will be screened. The exhibition Monitoring presents media installations and media sculptures. We invite to discussions about film and art, will deal with issues of net culture and will offer hands-on events with the possibility to network for up-and-coming filmmakers. The Kassel Dokfest considers itself as a festival with an international orientation and a strong focus on new media and the promotion of talented filmmakers.
The program on-site from November 14-19 is supplemented by an online offer from November 15-26.
We now invite all filmmakers, artists, distributors, producers, gallerists, universities and institutions to submit their most current works and projects to the 40th Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival. The entire film program as well as the works for the exhibition Monitoring will be selected from all submissions. All installations and media sculptures of the exhibition Monitoring compete for the Golden Cube. The selection committees nominate films from the program for the other festival awards. We do not charge an entry fee and pay a screening fee for every film of the regular film program according to our capabilities as well as an artist fee for the artists participating in the exhibition Monitoring.
