"With Maryam Jafri (*1972 in Karachi, Pakistan) and Ian Waelder (*1993 in Madrid, Spain) as winners of the 2023/2024 grants, we are looking forward to two inspiring projects that deal with contemporary issues and connect generations. After a one-year project phase, the resulting works of art will be acquired for the collection in autumn 2024 and presented to the public for the first time in the exhibition hall of the DZ BANK Art Foundation. The presentation will be thematically expanded with purchases of existing groups of works by Heba Y. Amin (*1980 in Cairo, Egypt), Barbara Proschak (*1984 in Eggenfelden, Germany) and Studio for Propositional Cinema. All of the selected artists are united by their consideration of socially relevant topics, which they process in their series of works using found photographic material, breaking down the boundaries between genres."
