Listening Session: Sound Poetry

Various examples of Sound Poetry, Text-Sound compositions and experimental spoken word, historic and contemporary will be presented in a listening session. Sound pieces by Tris Vonna-Michell and Marc Matter will be played.

Marc Matter (*1974 Basel, CH), artist and researcher investigating the musicality of speech and language. Author of electronic sound poetry and algorithmic word compositions, influenced by noise and minimal music, techno, concrete poetry, psycho-acoustics and linguistics. Founding member of Institut für Feinmotorik and The Durian Brothers; resident DJ and co-curator at Salon des Amateurs (Düsseldorf). Collaborations with Dagmara Kraus, Andreas Bülhoff, Ulrike Janssen, Niobe aka Yvonne Cornelius, Lexie Mountain, Stefan Römer, Vonna-Michell, Robert M Ochshorn, Tom White, Duncan Harrison. Releases on Mount Analogue, Slimvolume, Chocolate Monk, Tanuki, Research and Waves and most recent Futura Resistenza.

Artist and KHiO Art Academy professor Tris Vonna-Michell has exhibited widely in museums, biennales and galleries, most recently at Jan Mot in Brussels in March 2022. Vonna-Michell’s work utilises a plethora of technical devices, modes of presentation and installational approaches, encompassing performance, audio recordings, slide projections, poetry, sound poetry, printed matter, photography and 16mm-film.
