SEEHOF meets KUNZ
Pola Sieverding und Jochem Hendricks
Body Check

Opening: April 4th 2019, 6 - 9pm
Seehofstraße 12H, 60594 Frankfurt am Main

SEEHOF opens its studio doors for a first exhibition on its premises in Frankfurt in collaboration with Matthias Kunz from Knust + Kunz gallery, Munich. Eclectic Mix by DJane Yazz

Pola Sieverding + Jochem Hendricks + Matthias Kunz + SEEHOF

Since ancient times to the present day the human body is a central theme of artistic reflections. Through various strategies the approach to the body is a way of showing and staging of identity, beauty and power. The body raises questions about one's own innate individual identity, it is the meaning of expression of one's own emotions and at the same time gives us protection, freedom or even limitation. It serves to demonstrate power in different ways - political, psychological, social, financial or sexual power as well as in the family. The body sometimes embodies stereotypical role models, which also remind us of the supposed dichotomy of body and soul. The tension between body and mind are immanent in art. The biological and psychological sex (sex and gender) are not necessarily the same in one person. Art always resumes a fresh view on the body, creates confusions about the own identity and gender, as well as upon age and different phases of life.
