KUNSTVEREIN WIESEN
HAUPTSTRASSE 22
63831 WIESEN

Away from the usual epicenters of art production and off the institutional beaten path, we found ourselves throughout the forests, along trails, on the roofs and facades, in the barn, at the bus stop, the local smoking club, the lotto shop and restaurant of Wiesen. As guests of Wiesen, we were compelled to reprise our roles as such, but clearly there are as many types of guests as varieties of reception. We made individual decisions on whether to celebrate difference, to excite the possibility that tension could give way to other worlding. Or whether to prioritize attempts to reach the local inhabitants on their terms and respond directly to the given environment? Inevitably, we forged a collective agreement that honors and celebrates our individual expressions. What began as individual pursuits became a shared series of negotiations, compromises and connections which shape the exhibition. In addition to the works which will remain at Kunstverein Wiesen for the duration of the show, the opening is a full-day event filled with conversations and new relations, including a shuttle bus screening, readings in the local barn, a book fair, guided town walkthroughs and shared meals between the participating artists, guests and locals of Wiesen.
