The Offenbach art association mañana bold invites you to the Friedenskirche in Offenbach am Main next Saturday, 14.10.2023 at 6 pm for the organ-based performance "Schlingen-Blängen" by the renowned American "maximalist" Charlemagne Palestine!

Admission is free. Registration is possible via email to mail@mananabold.de.

Charlemagne Palestine was born in Brooklyn, New York City in 1947. He is a sound artist, composer, performer, video artist and installation artist. Palestine studied at New York University, Columbia University, Mannes College of Music, and the California Institute of the Arts.

A contemporary of artists such as Philip Glass, Terry Riley, Phill Niblock, and Tony Conrad, Palestine has been creating intense and ritualistic continuum music* for electronic sound sources, carillon (tower chimes), pipe organs, pianos, voice, and other keyboard instruments since the 1960s. Originally trained as a chasan (prayer leader in the synagogue) and carillon player, he always performs his own works as a soloist.

One of his most significant works, "Schlingen-Blängen," is a continuum form for pipe organs in which all the different and varied sound registers of a traditional church or theater organ are fused and developed as if in alchemy, in search of the Golden Sound. In doing so, Palestine uses the technique of key extension. This enables him to create works in which hundreds to thousands of nuances of timbre are created. Palestine creates a massive and sonorous vibrational cloud that interacts with the architecture of the church or theater building as if by magic.

We thank the artist, Media Loca/Mo Loschelder as well as the Friedenskirchegemeinde Offenbach.
