Tobias Rehberger

15.09.23 - 14.01.24

Opening Thursday 14 September 16:00-19:00

The evening’s programme will start with a panel discussion on the topic of collaborations and exchange within the arts between the three artists Tobias Rehberger, Benedikte Bjerre, and Simon Dybbroe Møller, all of whom trained at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Taking Rehberger's exhibition as a starting point, they will discuss how art can encourage special attention to and critical interaction with society. Curator of the exhibition Anne Kielgast will moderate the conversation.

Programme:
16:00-17:00: Welcome from Director Nanna Hjortenberg and panel discussion with Tobias Rehberger, Benedikte Bjerre & Simon Dybbroe Møller.
17:00-19:00: Vernissage & drinks served at the bar.

Sign up for the panel discussion here.

Tobias Rehberger investigates the fundamental social, cultural and perceptual conditions of art. In his work, he often incorporates strategies from other disciplines, particularly design and architecture. He does this in order to make us think differently about the relationship between art and everyday life, as well as to challenge established ideas of what constitutes an artwork.

Tobias Rehberger (b. 1966) trained at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and has been a professor there since 2001. He has presented numerous exhibitions worldwide, including solo presentations at Kunstmuseum Stuttgart (2022), Fondation Beyeler, Basel (2015) and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2010). In 2009, he received the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale for his art work what you love can also make you cry, which is still on display at the Giardini Park in Venice.

through the back side of my eyes will be on view at GL STRAND from 15 September 2023 through 14 January 2024.
