Opening: 31 October 2019, 7pm

"There are no events, that palpably point to the future, no matter how much light they might shed on the past." (Hannah Arendt, vita activa, 1958)

How evident is the past in present times? How do we deal with the stories and memories wrapped up in our archives, embedded in our monuments and cultural symbols? Bringing together three different artists, the exhibition "tracing echoes” explores contemporary perspectives on fragments and traces of the past, in an attempt to reflect on the countless narratives that form our present.

In cooperation with the Colonial Image Archive, Universitätsbibliothek J.C. Senckenberg.
Curated by Tarika Johar, Sarah Müller and Seda Pesen.
