Seeing With Your Ears
From October 8 - 11, 2024, Seeing With Your Ears – a workshop with Lasse-Marc Riek, Nina Queissner and Bernhard Schreiner took place at the Städelschule.
The Workshop
The course provides impulses for conscious listening and creative use of sound. Creativity and playful joy of discovery are the focus. The first phase is dedicated to practical exercises on auditory perception. Sound spaces are discovered and acoustic environments are experienced from personal auditory perspectives. In fixed groups, the participants explore their environment from a different angle. The sense of hearing, which often plays a subordinate role, is promoted in a special way – new hearing is trained. Sound sources are explored on audio walks and small projects are developed from them.
Using various microphones and recording techniques as well as digital processing, sound portraits of these – and other – places are created in the second phase.
