The Agassi International Academy is a school currently being built in the outskirts of Bo, Sierra Leone, by an artist of Sierra Leonian origin named Agassi F. Bangura. The academy is being developed to cater to underprivileged, disabled, and disadvantaged children from poor and underdeveloped communities in Sierra Leone.
Ten years ago, Agassi inherited some land in the region and decided to fund and initiate a new academy due to the lack of proper schooling system in the area. In 2022, the land was cleared, and the foundation was built. The project is currently in an active development phase towards building the classrooms and staff buildings while maintaining close relations with the local and national governments.
The Agassi International Academy has been partly self-funded, with the rest of the funding coming from donations. The project hopes to raise more resources and help from new sponsors on platforms like Gofundme and various blockchain networks. The school requires construction materials, school equipment, electronics, laptops, running water, and logistics to operate effectively. Any financial or material help will be greatly appreciated.
Once the academy is completed, the plan is to hand it over to the local community and the Sierra Leonian government to run and operate it.
