TAKE THE CAKE explores generosity and hosting. The format brings the backdrop of a cooking show into a live multi-sensory/multi-disciplinary lecture performance culminating with the sharing of freshly baked cakes with the audience.
The humorous and personal performances mix the practicalities of baking with a historical feminist discourse on women’s work in the kitchen in relation to both the industrialization and history of baking, and an analysis of capitalist influences on the modernization of baking.
