About:
Layering, densifying, repeating is obviously a preferred method in Erdogans work. If you like you can read layers, strata as philosophers once did aligning geology with moral*. Layers as being a god given decision as well as a social dispostiv. In the usual game of becoming indenpendant as an artist Erdogan chose to do only the generally possible, but that in bartlebyesque way till interferences and cracks become immanent, but also his artistic vehicle. Trying to fulfill exactly what is "needed" he is aiming to create an temporary image space without hierarchy.

Bio:
Goekhan Erdogan was born in 1978 in Frankfurt am Main Höchst as son of turkish immigrants. He spent a normal childhood normally growing up in simple working class milieu. He had to experience general rootlessness of immigrants in a familial and a social scale in his puberty and later as his parents got divorced and he had to move out of home before he was eighteen. Early he was interested in sports, subcultural activities and classical artistic education. His school performance up to finishing high school in 2000 he would describe himself as mediocre. After several attempts he decided to study art and finished the HfBK Frankfurt am Main in 2008 and made his diploma in 2012 summa cum laude at HfG Offenbach, where he post graduated in 2014 to deepen media critical and poststructural theories. Since 2009 he was present at exhibitions in Germany and abroad, e.g. the Galerie Feinkost in Berlin with Dorothy Iannone among others or 2010 in Bergamo where he has been represented through Thomas Brambilla Contemporary gallery, which counts Kandinsky price winner Anatoly Osmolowsky to their program. Since 2017 Erdogan is represented by Galerie Heike Strelow in Frankfurt am Main. Next to these exhibitions showing usually self portraits, he further develops in group projects his concept of dissolving identity of metropolitan subjects which he negotiates as liberating „vehicles“.
