The United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing, better known as the Shakers, is a religious communal sect which peaked in the nineteenth century in the United States. Today it is largely defunct and primarily known for its material culture.

The series Side Chair, Artist's Table, #4 Oval Box showcases three modified replicas of iconic pieces of Shaker furniture, exploring aspects of identity formation and contemporary notions of America through this seminal example of its material culture.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue.
