Almare at ArtVerona 15

ArtVerona celebrates15 years of transformation into an authoritative presence in the world of contemporary art and among the major Fairs in Europe.

ArtVerona is a well-curated event, which plays an increasingly remarkable role in the art world, thanks to a careful selection of its artistic proposals and a constant attention to the international emerging artistic scenario. The fair finds its roots and its vocation in the promotion of the local territory and into the exchange with its Collectors.

For the third year under the guidance of Adriana Polveroni, ArtVerona is consolidating its commitment to continuity and innovation.

In the frame of ArtVerona 15^ edizione 11-13 ottobre 2019, ALMARE proposes a self-recordings’ miscellanea: a collection, hybrid and snugly inhomogeneous, an assembly of sounds, paradoxically recorded by oneself for oneself. Artists, musicians but also curators, journalists, writers, theorists, are invited to contribute to this on-going project. Edited together, as a single soundtrack, all the contributions will be played composing a single self-recorded testimony. The miscellanea can only be eavesdropped through the walls of an inaccessible room, specifically built for this very occasion.

The project attempts to give a glimpse of those polyvalent manifestations linked to self-observed, self-listened, self-stored sounds. How is self-recording able to drastically jeopardize our listening experience? How can it blur the boundaries between maker and receiver? Self-registration rises as a medium and conceptual paradox. The need-to-trace becomes self-determination, self-monitoring, self-editing and perhaps, one inevitably becomes other to oneself.

This first step of the ongoing project has been possible thanks to the generous contribution of Andrea Agostini, Federico Antonini, Josephine Baan, Lucilla Ba and Erberto Anca, Enrico Boccioletti, Dafne Boggeri, Tiziano Bonini, Mattia Capelletti, Angelo Careri, Daniela Cascella (with a recording previously published on RIC Journal), Roberto Casti, Ella CB, Federico Chiari, Marzia D'Amico, Luis Einhauser, Paul-Flavien Enriquez-Sarano, Vincenzo Estremo, Alessandra Ferrini, Marco Giordano, Caterina Gobbi, Renato Grieco, Balthazar Heisch, Doriana Licusati aka Dori Eleninfe, Ben Livne Weitzman, Jacopo Miliani, Nina Nadig, Federica Partinico aka Federik Partinik, Chiara Percivati, Ambra Pittoni, François Pisapia aka François ÞisaÞia, Elena Radice, Kristin Reiman, Tancrède Rivière, Marina Rosenfeld, Radna Rumping, Francesco Tenaglia, Justin Randolph Thompson, Francesco Ventrella, Francesco Venturi, Marco Verdi, Feronia Wennborg
