you know the border’s closed right?
In her paintings and artist books, Leiby reflects upon individuality and mark-making by devel-oping approaches to observation and measurement, and tracking subjective differences in cognition, attitudes, pathologies, and the unconscious. She has incorporated elements of psychometrics or psychological measurement as material for manipulation to address the cognitive processes inherent in creative production. Sofia Defino Leiby has shown her work in Solo and two-person exhibitions at Page NYC, Ύλη[matter]HYLE, Athens, Kimmerich Berlin, and Clifton Benevento, New York. Her writing has been published in Texte zur Kunst, Spike Art Quarterly, and BOMB. Defino Leiby has been included in group exhibitions at Sweetwater, Berlin, The Green Gallery, Chicago, Springsteen, Baltimore, and Nicelle Beauchene Gallery, NYC, among others. Her work has been reviewed in Artforum, Mousse, Paper and Harper’s Bazaar Mexico.

She will relate them to her upcoming project on roof extensions, and how they are empoyed to add to Berlin’s housing stock. The works in this cycle will be on view as part of the BPA exhibition at KW this Summer under the title Obergeschoss. Recent solo exhibitions of Sabahi’s work took place at Edith-Russ-Haus, Oldenburg (2018) and Longue Road Projects, Oslo (2019).
