+FEM is a collective founded in 2017 in Frankfurt am Main.
Its aim is to bring together female artists, activists and academics, and give them a space in which they can collaborate as well as express themselves creatively and theoretically. For their second exhibition +FEM addresses the genre of female self-portaiture. In the representation of womxn in art lies a strength that diametrically mirrors the weakness that is projected onto womxn by a patriarchal society. This sphere opens a mode of autonomy forbidden by society‘s repressive structures. Beyond the scope of classical arts POWER STRIP wants to show the idea of interconnectedness - a virtual space in which the power of womxn becomes real.
