Equinox *

23 September (Friday) Lake Grodno, in Nowogród (Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship), Poland, 5pm

The event in Nowogród will be held for the fourth time. Enjoy games and dancing around the harvest wreath, chants, a bonfire, homemade bread, pickles, local preserves and artistic performances.

Programme:
Refreshments prepared by the Nowogród Rural Women's Circle, a herbal ritual, a musical performance, a concert for voice, violin and bass, and a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of KGW Nowogród.

Artists: Ari-Pekka Leinonen, Katarzyna Zedel's Band**, Konrad Pietruszyński, Zofia Lebowska, Alicja Wysocka and residents of Nowogród and the surrounding area.

**composed of: Katarzyna Zedel (violin), Marta Domachowska (bass) and Katarzyna Rosik (drum) co-create a band in which they play and sing melodies from the Przysucha and Szydłowiec area - learnt through meetings with Jan Gaca, singers from Galki Rusinowskie, Wiesława Gromadza and others.

*Równonoc is a continuation of the 'Solstice' event in June 2018, which took place on the Grodzisko mound in Nowogród, initiated by Alicja Wysocka and Joanna Rajkowska.

*wyżynki, obrzynki, wieniec, wieńcowe, okrężne, żniwniok, Święto Plonów, Wieńce, dożynki is a rite of thanksgiving at the end of the harvest, a Slavic festival falling during the autumnal equinox, associated with the cult of plants and trees, then with agriculture.
