Simon Littauer is a danish electronic musician, with live-performance of modular synthesizers as a focal point in his work. As he is exploring how a performer interfaces with the electronic instrument, he designs his own machines and systems to augment the flexibility and expressiveness with haptic controllers, custom tailored samplers and stochastic compositional techniques. His sound is dynamic, multilayered and fragmented. With breakbeats, glitches and soundscapes, his music unfolds through energetic rhythms and abstract melodies which you can both zone out or dance to.
Musician and visual artist, Alexander Tillegreen and scenographer and artist, Magnus Pind present the first premiere of a joint audio-visual performance combining video, sound and light in a spatial installation.
Tillegreen and Pind's live set is based on their common interest in pattern recognition, both sonic and visual. Rhythmic repetitions of sounds, images and words become an investigation of questions such as: how is meaning and understanding formed, by the individual and also collectively?
The music invites the listener to feel how heavy bass, high frequency tension and linguistic psychoacoustic effects put the senses into play. In other moments, the soundscape is turned to delicate and ambient passages, thus alternating between minimalist and hypnotic, drone-based approaches and complex rhythmic progressions with surprising and radical tonal shifts. Light activates and sets the stage in the room. The visual material consists entirely of thousands of images from datasets used to train artificial intelligence to recognize various motifs, such as captchas, eyes, and human activities, flashing by in a storm of high-speed images.
