Course duration and conclusion
A complete course of study at the Städelschule lasts for ten semesters. Upon application, the period of study may be extended by two semesters. A central feature of the course is independent artistic work in the Städelschule’s studio as well as preparation for and participation in open calls and exhibitions.
There is an interim examination after the second, third or fourth semester. For the interim examination, the students produce their own art. This shall determine whether or no the student will continue to be admitted for study at the Städelschule. The interim examination may be retaken once, but only with the examination after the second and third semester.
When the course of study is completed, a certificate for the complete course of study is issued. No academic degree (diploma, bachelor or master) is awarded at the end of the course.
