Wu Tsang will give insights on her artistic practice on the occasion of joining the Städelschule as a guest professor. She is a filmmaker and performance artist, currently based in Berlin and New York. Her work combines documentary and narrative techniques with fantastical detours into the imaginary in works that explore hidden histories, marginalized narratives, and the act of performing itself. Wu Tsang re-imagines racialized, gendered representations beyond the visible frame to encompass the multiple and shifting perspectives through which we experience the social realm. She is currently a 2018 MacArthur Fellow and has participated in the the 9th Berlin Biennial, 2018; 2012 Whitney Biennial, New York; “The Ungovernables” New Museum Triennial, New York; 2012 Gwangju Biennial, South Korea; and Performa 11 Biennial, New York.
