Amy Sillman (* 1955) is an American painter who lives in New York. Her work examines the structures, materiality and processes of painting, and has evolved over the past twenty years from drawing to writing and digital animation to printmaking. Her work has been shown in numerous museums and galleries in America and Europe, including the Portikus in Frankfurt, the MoMA and Whitney Museum in New York, the MoMA in San Francisco and the Tate Modern in London. In the summer of 2019, the artist had a solo exhibition entitled "The Nervous System" at the Arts Club of Chicago. The edition consists of works created exclusively for the Städelschule, the proceeds of which will benefit the class. A student edition will be published parallel to the professors edition. Amy Sillman selected Rudi Ninov for the student edition, who already transferred the formal language of a painterly gesture into the medium of ceramics during the last tour. For his edition he created a number of unique ceramic sculptures.
