Christa Näher (*1947 in Lindau/DE) has taught painting at the Städelschule since 1987. Based in Wolfegg (Allgäu), the artist was known in the mid-1980s for dark-toned painting of recurring subjects, particularly of animals, human-animal hybrid creations and landscape. The mythical-fantastical motifs of her painting have a close connection with the subconscious and dreams.
